Basketball Rules

  • Play consists of two 20-minute haves.  There will be a running clock.  Each team is allowed (2) time outs per game.  The clock is running, except for final 2 minutes of the 2nd half (unless a team is up by 15 points or more). In the case of a tie at the end or regulation there will be a 2:00 minute overtime with each team being awarded one time-out for the overtime period
  • Teams are allowed an unlimited amount of players on the roster.  Up to 10 shirts are provided to a team from the initial roster.  You may add players to the team after the season has begun.  Teams have up into the third week of the season to do so.  After that, rosters are frozen.
  • Each team can field up to 5 players on the court at one time.  A team has 10 minutes past the start time to field a regulation team.  Teams must play with a minimum of 4 players from their roster.  Teams with less than 4 players playing will result in a forfeit.  If a team is playing with less than 4 players, it can be an official game if the other team provides consent. This decision must be made before game play begins.
  • In order to participate in the league, each player must sign the team waiver.  Players not present the first week of play will still be required to sign a waiver with our staff before participating.
  • Single Bonus begins on the 7th foul. Double bonus begins on the 10th foul.   A player is automatically ejected from the game if they receive two technical fouls.
  • Substitutions will only occur when play has stopped.  There is no limit on the amount of subs per team.
  • The 3-point field goal is in effect if the court has a line marked for the three point line.  Typical backcourt violations will be in effect unless otherwise noted.  Dunking may or may not be allowed depending on the facility that is being used by the league.  You will have to check with the referee on site for that to be determined.
  • Players will foul-out after being awarded their 6th personal foul.  All technical fouls will be recorded as personal fouls.
  • Team uniforms must be similar in color.  They must have numbers on the back of their shirts.
  • Referees will be provided for each game.  The on site referee has the authority to remove any player that they feel is necessary during the game.
  • All teams will make the playoffs.  Playoffs will begin immediately following the regular season of play.  Teams will be seeded according to their regular season standings.  Teams will be provided a playoff schedule prior to the playoffs beginning.
  • Cancelled games.  If games are cancelled due to weather related conditions or unplayable facility conditions you will be notified via the weather hotline.
  • It is expected that all games in our leagues follow good sportsmanship.  Games can become heated, but we are all here to have a good time playing sports.  We do reserve the right to remove any player that is providing poor quality to the league.
